Millennium 2.2, part 1: Moonbase can into space?
Everyone on Earth is dead. It's up to the 100 people on the moonbase to do... something (it's not even clear what the game's objective is at the start). Just to make things worse, it took about a week for the Mars colony to declare war on us. We should probably do something about that.
The first problem is that you need exotic materials to colonize more planets, and you need to colonize to mine those materials. Grazers - which can retrieve mineable asteroids - are the solution to this problem, and also a supplementary source of othe rminerals.
Probing is a little bit disappointing. Humans are very fussy creatures - we do not like temperatures above 750 Kelvin, crushing pressures, sulphuric acid rain, or radioactive atmospheres. Out of the inner solar system and Jupiter's moons, only Callisto and Leda are suitable for colonization. They are, however, both good coloni sites - Callisto has copper and platinum deposits, which provide a steady source of these minerals that's much less micromanagement-intensive than getting them from the asteroids.
Leda has uranium, which is needed for orbital laser defences.
Saturn and its moons are more hospitable, but they are further away, and travel times are realistic - which means very long.
