Min-Maxing Meta-Gaming Munchkin Ruining Your Dungeons & Dragons Game- GM 911 (5E D&D)
Original GM 911 Post
Howdy, Nerdarchy people!
I'm currently running a campaign that's taking my party
on an adventure in escaping the Nine Hells after being
brought into a ring of slavery. They're currently trapped
in the mining camp of a devil by the name of Shah, where
we ended the session just before they could enact a plan
to escape.
Now, this is my first major campaign I'm running and am
curious as to the behavior of my wizard. He made me
aware that outside of the game, he was researching the
current level of hell they were on to figure out political leaders
and how to navigate the environment. Part of me feels
like this is blatant meta gaming, however he's using
his 18 in intelligence as an excuse.
My questions, I suppose, would be:
1.) Is this an instance of metagaming that my new DM self just is just not certain about?
2.) If this is an instance of metagaming, what would you suggest as a form of dealing with the problem?
I'm simply looking for a second opinion. Any feedback
from you guys would be great.
