About The Pixel Art Challenge: I designed the PAC as follows: In the Pixel Art Challenge, you are given a 51x51x5 plot. In it you may use whatever blocks, however you want, including redstone, rails, etc. to create a pixel-art style build that fits the current challenge’s theme. The only thing is, nothing can extend outside of that 5 block deep plot, except for buttons, levers (for redstone), and signs to tell your story. It’s a lot of fun, and there are always great builds ranging from traditional pixel art to relief to animated or musical pieces. The updates to the challenge made by TheeRealDuke allow additional layers to be added to the works – think lighting, redstone, dispensers, pistons… This adds additional creativity, challenge, and possibility to standard pixel art competitions.
What players dig about the PAC: As far as a Minecraft build off is concerned, there needs to be a balance between a build challenge that people can understand and a building challenge that actually “challenges” builders in a new way. Minecraft pixel art is very popular and this Minecraft build competition allows players to work with that to perfect the classic idea of pixel art while giving them room to push that boundary. Again, the challenge is to make a creative leap forward in not only the style of builds but in the way the competitions themselves are presented. Fostering a supportive creative environment and presenting it in an interesting way is paramount and critical to the PAC’s success!
