I've cleaned up the mob trap and made it look presentable. Minecraft 1.2 came out recently and it seems to have increased the hostile mob spawn rate substantially, which I won't complain about at all. On the other hand, I haven't seen any Endermen in the trap at all. The only thing left to do on the mob trap is to make a simple entrance.
