Remembering we saw another canyon near where we first saw the bees we decided to pay it a visit.
When we looked down we saw pools of lava and water at the bottom. This canyon was very deep.

We contained the water flow and it uncovered a layer of obsidian.

Unfortunately we had forgotten our diamond pickaxe so we gather some raw materials and made our way home early.

We went a second visit to the canyon of fire and water. This time we was equipped with the diamond pickaxe and managed to get home with some obsidian.
In the basement of our home we built the obsidian portal and stepped through to our first ever view of The Nether. Then, promptly stepped back.
