Minecraft Server on Ubuntu 14.04 (Linux)
In this video I install Minecraft server on my Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS machine. I agree to the EULA and then connect to the server from another machine on the network.
I also talk about updating Java and possible issues with the server refusing to run if an old instance is still goijng.
I do not cover connection to the Server from the internet in this video that's for a later video.
Please post any questions, I'm happy to help :)
Got Java? Run this: java -version
Need Java? Run this: sudo apt-get install default-jdk
Running Server? Run this: java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_XXXXXXX (version number) nogui
Please Note: got some feedback on this video. I know its nothing new. I know Linux game servers are very common. I made the video because someone asked and I didn't think there was anything 'streamlined' and recent already about. Not every video has to cover something cutting edge!
