Dragon's Dogma is an action RPG developed by Capcom and released in 2012. This game follows the story of the Arisen, an avatar character made by the player who is challenged by a dragon to duel for the fate of the world. And how else does a scaly harbinger of the end times choose his destroyer? By plucking their still-beating heart right out of their chest, that's how! While missing their heart the Arisen is kept alive by the dragon's curse and is tasked with becoming strong enough to at least provide the dragon with an entertaining challenge if nothing else.
As an Arisen, the player can summon and command Pawns, human-like entities that lack a will of their own. One of these pawns is created by the player and can be recruited by other players via an online roster, allowing their pawn to gather materials as well as quest knowledge and strategies from helping other Arisen.
The Arisen also has 9 different classes to choose from, with a variety of base classes for gaining pivotal skills, as well as advanced and hybrid classes, offering a wide variety of unique play styles. One of the key aspects found in Dragon's Dogma is the manner in which boss monsters can be fought, allowing players to climb upon and attack certain areas on monsters rather than simply hacking away at their heels. Overall Dragon's Dogma provides a unique action-packed RPG experience and while it's overall world could be called small, it packs more than a few surprises.
