Miniseries vs. Ongoings and Floppies vs. Graphic Novels(Trades) - Rambling About Comic Books
After reading and reviewing Justice League Last Ride #1 from Chip Zdarsky and Miguel Mondonca, I thought it might be interesting to talk about the differences between miniseries vs. ongoings and floppy comic books vs. graphic novels, or trades. The way the current market is set up, all ongoing series are written for six issue story arcs to be easily put together and resold in a graphic novel. At this point, it makes more sense to just wait for the graphic novels, or stick to reading miniseries because at least with them you are going to be following the story as intended by the same creative team. The main problem modern comics has aside from the constant injection of identity politics is the continuous cycle of rebooting and retelling the same origin stories for characters we already know. After starting to review manga again with Edens Zero, I may be scaling back my current comic book reviews and stick to reviewing more complete stories. Thanks for watching, let me know your thoughts in the comments down below, and have a great day!
