I guess this really is the culmination of all of the Momdora games. This honestly expands on all of the games previous mechanics and improves on them. The graphics move away from pixel art, which isn't a bad choice, the game is 2D and the characters look 2.5D. The environments are very pretty an vibrantly colorful. The more somber and piano focused music of Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is continued here and it very much fits with the overall tone. I stated in the previous game that I thought they expanded on the the lore and they certainly take it to another level here with even more world building and lore. While this does seem to be a sequel in any way to the Momodora series more like spiritual successor, the story does seem very similar. There is a curse being spread and priestesses have to stop the spread. It's a lot more involved than before and that's nice. The movement in the game is really cool and something I'm not sure I have seen before but your double jump is combined with an attack, which is pretty neat. So instead of just jumping again in the air your character does a wide swinging uppercut to launch you higher. It's really cool. You also get to choose from a bunch of different weapons some of which also can help boost your jump a bit with an attack that also causes you some upward movement. Once again there are a bunch of accessories that will help you out, you only have 2 slots but there are a ton of helpful additions. Your consumables also refresh with every save point just like the previous Momodora game, which is really convenient and you get to try out a ton of different magical attacks. They are practically free damage in boss fights. Though most are not all that powerful. The game also introduces a parry which is super helpful for some of the frantic combat. It's actually very similar to the later 2D Metroid games. It takes some getting used to the timing but it's certainly fun to use and fairly forgiving. Hell, you can parry all projectiles including freaking bombs. I love it. The downside is that some boss attacks appear to not trigger a parry and just allow you to block, which is disappointing. Another downside is that if you want all of the endings you're going to have to replay the game. That is a change from the previous games, in which you can just replay from your final save, this auto-saves over your save file and you can spawn back in at your last save just no more final boss. It's cool if you want to continue to do stuff, like find the rest of the coins or do the unlocked and optional arena and boss. You also unlock fast travel, which really should have been part of the game. You also get the option to start New Game Plus, which I elected not to do. Maybe at some point down the line. The game offers a good challenge even though there aren't difficulty options. Some boss fights are pretty rough and I did die a lot, but there is nothing more satisfying than figuring out bosses and they are really cool. There are some standard size human bosses and some giant creatures. This game continues the streak of the wonderful games Bombservice is putting out. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
