Raiden is persuaded by Liu Kang that Scorpion might be telling the truth in an effort to persuade him. Using Shinnok's amulet, Raiden attacks Scorpion because he won't listen. Raiden assaults Liu Kang with the amulet after the latter tries to stop him, declaring that they have run out of time and that he must save Earthrealm. After the battle, Liu Kang concludes that Raiden cannot be trusted and that the Revenants were in fact correct. With his eyes and lightning now burning crimson, Raiden responds that he does not need your trust and only wants your obedience. Raiden makes a realization: "This has happened before" as Liu Kang is ready to attack him with firepower. He starts seeing visions of himself and Liu Kang clashing in various locations.
He understands that Liu Kang and he were only fighting because Kronika had always wanted it to happen. He then continues to treat Scorpion while professing his regret for having been a captive to his rage as well. Liu Kang and the others are initially unable to comprehend what is going on until Raiden explains that Kronika has repeatedly restarted time, setting him and Liu Kang against one another and Liu Kang losing in every conflict. Time is frozen, taking everyone else with it save for Raiden, just as Raiden is promising the others that Kronika would no longer govern them.
Raiden and his comrades board Kharon's fleet shortly after to prepare for the decisive fight. Frost and Geras are in charge of a big ship filled with Cyber Lin Kuei troops that is pursuing them. Raiden reassures Kharon that the united forces would secure the ships despite his claim that his fleet is not equipped for combat. The Cyber Lin Kuei attack as the ships collide. Jax is then assigned to battle Raiden in the present day, but fails. Jax is persuaded by Raiden that Kronika has been using him as a pawn all along, leading him to turn against Kronika's men. The Thunder God then defeats Geras in a combat, chains him to an anchor, and releases him.
