The Jovian prisoner, Tsukumo Shiratori, is discovered within the Nadesico after some of the crew try to lure him out and is made to talk about what exactly his deal is - he's very clearly human and he's got Gekigangar stuff on him. It is revealed that he and all of the other Jovians were from Earth originally and, about a hundred years ago, they tried to strike out for independence from Earth's government. They lost and were viciously exiled, first to Mars, then Jupiter. Their only form of recreation that they took with them on their voyage were the complete series of Gekigangar, to which they styled their entire civilization around. And now they're back to exact their justice on Earth.

Yes, really.

Oh and some guy named Gandal is up to something spooky, who cares? Tsukumo leaves the Nadesico with Megumi and Minato, both of whom have had enough with the war and the circumstances that got them here. Then they're under attack by the Bharmians. They just never learn.
