With the ground anchoring system introduced into KSP after v1.8.1, the crew elevators in Modular Launch Pads became difficult, if not impossible, to use to board Kerbals into spacecraft. The anchoring system wants to pull Kerbals on EVA down through the floor of the elevator car, and only by keeping them moving will they avoid that from happening. I've greatly slowed down the speed of the cars to help alleviate the problem, but there's only so much I can do.

So I had the idea to add crew capacity and a hatch ("airlock" in KSP terms) to the elevator car, like I did with the Large General Crew Arm and the transfer airlock. Now Kerbals can "board" the elevator car, "ride" it up to the crew arm, and then exit the car, avoiding the whole anchoring system shenanigans. True, you can't see the Kerbals riding the car, but that's a small price to pay. I used the stock Generic 3 IVA to get the Kerbal portraits and the EVA button.

This is a demo with the Mini General Crew Elevator. All the crew elevators will be getting this feature. The elevator cars still can be used normally.
