Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mann Ki Baat shared that Charaideo Maidam in Assam is being included as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This will be India's 43rd site on the list and the first from the Northeast. He explained that Charaideo means "shining city on the hills." It was the first capital of the Ahom dynasty. The Ahom people traditionally kept the remains of their ancestors and their valuable belongings in Maidams. This recognition will boost tourism, attracting more visitors to this culturally rich site. The PM asked to add Charaideo Maidam to our travel plans and experience this heritage gem firsthand.
