Fun facts: Petroglyphs are powerful cultural symbols that reflect the complex societies and religions of the surrounding tribes. Originally occupied by the Basket Maker people and Anasazi Pueblo farmers from around 300 BC to 1150 AD, the Valley of Fire rock formations offered protection from the weather as well as a primitive form of lodging.

Trip notes: My trip from Joshua Tree National Park, California to Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada. My original plan was to explore Moab, Utah’s to find petroglyphs but due to my tight schedule, I had to stick to Plan B. Hiking alone in this state park made me feel like I was being followed, I thought it might have been a spirit or something. Anyhow, I was fortunate enough to find some petroglyphs around the park. Sadly, some of the ones I found were partially vandalized.
