Have you ever been posed the old question of what you'd like as your one thing to be able to bring to a deserted island? I think most people think of only a single object but the context is vague. So why not bring a literal freaking army! That seemed to be how the Survivalists developers thought of answering that question. Your soldiers (monkeys) come relatively easily and outfitting them is stupidly simple. It seems this survival game is more about conquest than actual...well, survival.
