0If Rage Ray Legiana was the Disc 1 boss this would definitely be the Disc 2 boss fight gatekeeping you out of the late game.
Our first Elder Dragon and what a better way to enter the Lions den than a fight against one of the strongest in the series and spoilers this is far and away the toughest boss up to this point in the game and probably is tougher than even Agnaktor EX or Tigrex EX from Stories 1.
Surprisingly this boss is a technical attacker
once he starts to grow spikes though he'll be swapping to power
then when pissed off he becomes speedy and also double attacks.
However this boss rarely uses standard attacks and instead uses ruinous version of them doing a lot more damage or making use of that freaking spike canon he calls a gimmick.
Make sure everything on your team has at least 200 HP or they will die and even with 200 ya still ought to hope and pray.
His other big gimmick is his spikes they will be easy to break for 3-4 turns and then hard to break until he unleashes them. When the spikes are white go all out to break at least 1 if not 2 parts as this will weaken his strongest attack which is basically Barthandelus from FF13 except this game is actually fun.
The key to this battle is to just know what attacks he does depending on his state and if you don't see him targeting someone on your team, and they're not using an item, you need to be ready for spikes. Making use of those kinships for defense is just as important as it is for offense here, though a dual kinship can instantly break a set of white spikes so capitalize on that if you see the chance. But otherwise try and save Kinships for when you need Nergi to just not attack for a turn and if Cheval is about to bust out the deadly discs it may be worth it to spend that turn recovering without Nergi attacking you instead of trying to get a bit more damage in.
This is a long and very difficult fight so dig in your heals and try your best.
