Yeah, a bit out of order here. I encountered Rathian on a simple cactus foraging mission and decided to take some pot shots in hope of securing a part break, but I ended up finishing the job. I'm supposed to fight her much, much later! Apologies if you were hoping to see her proper cutscene introduction. I want to see it too!

So what do I think of Rathian? Tried and true, she's the lesser of the iconic duo that's been in every Monster Hunter game. The Raths are always intimidating-- Rathian more so for her deadly backflip move with a wicked poisonous spike. As long as you keep a cool head and NEVER stand directly in front of where she's facing, you'll do fine.

Unlike Rathalos, the mean green queen machine tends to keep her feet planted on the ground, and very rarely spits fire. So in a sense, she's training wheels for Rathalos. And, later in the game, is a huge pest when you're asked to fight the duo at the same time...

Turns out that World finally made it so severing her tail stops her tail attacks from poisoning you. Hurrah!
