This is my entry for the July 2021 Monthly Retro Challenge: Get the high score in Altered Beast, with the following requirements: Normal settings, must collect the first three spirit balls, play to Game Over (looping allowed).

I'm gonna go ahead and blame my cat for ruining my run when she jumped into my lap and blocked my view of the TV. Yeah, that's it. In truth, I also had trouble nailing Stage 4, and ran out of time to keep practicing and making attempts. Whatever — it was fun!
