Monty on the Run - Famicom Disk System (1987)

It's an interesting spin on the actual game, because this just isn't the actual game so "spin" is the only way I can describe it. In fact, this is yet another one of those games that sort of teases me into a "what might have been" thought process. It's missing the SID, it's missing the mole, and it's not even the same layout...but it is thematically similar. You still pick your items and still have to tackle your way through an obstacle course.
The whole "what might have been" thing comes from the fact that this came on a disk. The entire idea of Monty on the Run is that you pick your gear and go out trying to get to the finish through trial and error. That's a process that could be repeated several times over and the right NES game could have been a solidly built experience that used the FDS to work as an expansion. Just kind of makes me wonder if the whole NOA creative control power trip had something to do with the FDS not making it here.
