Monument Valley (Navajo: Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii, pronounced [tsʰépìːʔ ǹtsɪ̀skɑ̀ìː], meaning valley of the rocks) is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor.[1] It is located on the Utah-Arizona state line, near the Four Corners area. The valley is a sacred area that lies within the territory of the Navajo Nation Reservation, the Native American people of the area.[2]

Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. Director John Ford used the location for a number of his Westerns; critic Keith Phipps wrote that "its five square miles [13 square kilometers] have defined what decades of moviegoers think of when they imagine the American West."[3]

Es ist bekannt für seine Tafelberge, Felstürme und -nadeln und diente bereits vielfach als Kulisse für Dreharbeiten und Bilder.

Monument Valley (en français, la « vallée du monument ») est un site naturel américain situé à la frontière entre l'Arizona et l'Utah, proche du Four Corners.

Il est remarquable par ses formations géomorphologiques composées notamment de mesas et buttes-témoins. Le site fait partie d'une réserve des Navajos et du plateau du Colorado. Les Navajos nomment l'endroit Tsé Bii' Ndzisgaii, signifiant « la vallée des rocs ».

La Monument Valley è un pianoro di origine fluviale collocato al confine tra Utah e Arizona caratterizzato da "testimoni di erosione", ovvero guglie rocciose celebri in tutto il mondo come icona del West.

El valle de los Monumentos (en inglés, Monument Valley) es una gran depresión situada en la frontera sur de Utah con Arizona, en los Estados Unidos. El valle está dentro de la reserva de los nativos navajo, cerca del monumento de las Cuatro Esquinas (Four Corners) y es accesible por la U.S. Route 163. El nombre navajo para el valle es Tsé Bii' Ndzisgaii («valle de las Rocas»).

El valle es famoso por sus curiosas formaciones de mesas y ha sido escenario de numerosas películas.

Monument Valley (pol. Dolina Pomników; w języku navaho Tsé Bii’ Ndzisgaii, czyli pol. Dolina Skał) – region w USA, na wyżynie Kolorado, położony administracyjnie na granicy stanów Utah i Arizona, w całości na terenie rezerwatu Indian Navaho (Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park)[1]. Należy do rejonu Four Corners.

Dolina mimo swej nazwy nie jest doliną, lecz obszarem, na którym erozja eoliczna stworzyła formy skalne w postaci iglic, stoliw, płaskowyży, gór stołowych, stromych izolowanych form zwanych butte[2]. Ze względu na duże stromizny utworów skalnych swobodne poruszanie się jest możliwe tylko w dolnych partiach, co prawdopodobnie przyczyniło się do nadania terenowi nazwy doliny. Czerwona barwa skał spowodowana jest występowaniem dwóch rodzajów piaskowców Wingate oraz Nawaho (ang. Wingate Sandstone oraz Nawaho Sandstone), które dominują w Monument Valley. Skały te są wysycone dużą ilością tlenków żelaza[3][4][5].
