I enjoy playing prison style decks! The ancestor of this deck was usually Mono Red and tried to stick a Blood Moon or Chalice of the Void on turn 1 using Simian Spirit Guide and Rituals to speed out the salty permanents. With SSG being banned and in a 2023 Modern format featuring Force of Vigor and Boseiju who Endures, could this style of deck possibly be viable? I'm gonna find out with a janky boros build. What's better than a prison deck with 3 lock pieces (Blood Moon, Chalice of the Void, Ensnaring Bridge)? How about a prison deck with 4 lock pieces! Mainboard Leyline of Sanctity is gonna keep us safe from all of those Griefs, Thoughtseizes, and burn spells! For some extra spice, I'm running Serum Powder to absolutely maximize my chances of having one or more lock pieces plus fast mana in my opening hand! Karn the Great Creator, fair magic card that he is, can help us fetch pieces from our board and keeps One Rings from doing their thing! I did play several versions of decks like this prior to the banning of SSG and the printing of Karn, but not really since then, so this will be an experiment. In fact I used to have a jeskai build that combined all these pieces plus Idyllic Tutors to find Blood Moon, as well as Trinket and Trophy Mages to find Chalices and Bridges! Those were the days! This is an early iteration and mostly untested so I'm not expecting spectacular results, but it should be some janky fun!
