M:tG Arena: What Mom says goes in Esper Mom control in Standard! Also, Shelley says hi!
On this channel, as a jank afficionado, I'm always looking for ways to jank out the meta. Standard is a scary format where devastating 7 mana plays can win games on the spot, totally invalidating everything that happened before. The thing is, those 7 drops are mostly creatures like Atraxa and Etali. What do they have in common? They rely on their ETB effects to get their game winning value. Maybe it's time for Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines to really shine! We're running her in an Esper shell that's trying to hate out as many popular archetypes as possible. For instance, there are tons of control decks including new Beanstalk decks that just want to draw as many cards as possible. What's good against ridiculous card draw? Why Sheoldred the Apocalypse of course expertly punishes those greedy brain geysers! She also tends to be pretty good against aggro strategies as well with the life gain she provides, so another archetype checked off there. Skrelv will do its best to keep our starlets safe in a sea of spot removal. Backed up be a suite of discard, counters and removal, Mom and Shelley should be able to put in some work! Esper is a known powerful quantity in Standard, but this 75 is a bit different than you would normally see and is fully aligned with my "kitchen sink" philosophy of deck construction. It's the sweaty side of jank!
