Welcome to Kowloon: Bite sized Indie Horror with Big Scares!
I am a fan of Indie Horror games! I've played almost all of the Chilla's Art games, Anatomy, Beyond Skerry, Iron Lung... several others! I have no problem with a good, spooky walking simulator, an almost totally on rails haunted house ride, if it's done well. In the hands of skillful creators, you can pack a lot of fear into a small package, and that's exactly what this game does! It's 1999 and our protagonist is a penniless college student looking for the cheapest accommodations they can find for the next term. This leads them to the walled city of Kowloon, notorious for its squalor and gang violence. It's a city the Chinese government would very much like to wipe off the map. But.. the rent's so cheap! It's only for one term. How bad can it be? I like very much that the game has enough tie in to the real world to make you feel a weight to all of the events of the game. Like this is something that could really have happened. There was a lot of real suffering that took place. Congrats to the developers a1esska, Notex, N4bA, and Admia. Really great work! I look forward to more from you!
During editing, I noticed something about the ending that I didn't catch in real time. I'll type my theory below my plugs, as it is a spoiler.

SPOILER BELOW!!!!
So during the ending scene, pay attention to the perspective of the camera. It is in a corner of the room and elevated above the furniture and the TV. The camera slowly sways back and forth and, after the flash memory of the Kowloon ghost, fades to black. The protagonist is hanging themselves! I guess there is one way out of Kowloon after all!
