The only real drawback with this DLC is that you cannot actually play it until you beat the game, so it's pretty much useless until then. Even still it does add a fair amount of new content, new unlocks, even a shop upgrade.

Enemies are fairly tanky requiring a lot of kiting, and this is somewhat predicated on you being already adept at these aspects before jumping in.
