On first inspection Moontorc appears to be an interesting game, but some of the mechanics prove to be deeply unfair.

The objective on each level is to assemble pieces of the Moontorc, then giving the completed item to the guard at the far right of the zone.

Pieces of the torc can be purchased from shops using cash collected from various screens, as can assorted colour-coded keys needed to unlock certain doors blocking your progress.

Unfortunately, you don't know exactly how many keys you'll need, so it's entirely possible to blow your money on spells and food, leaving you in a situation where it's impossible to beat the game. Similarly, the level designs often prevent you from returning to a shop to purchase more keys, so you'll often end up trapped behind locked doors you have no way of opening.

Obviously, the game expects you to learn and memorise what keys you need through a process of trial and error, which results in a genuinely frustrating experience.

And if you were wondering if there's something wrong with the audio, I'm afraid those squeaks and parps ARE the actual sound effects.
