More Alexios Than Kassandra In Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Ubisoft's Surprised, I'm Not | Xaenca
245Xaenca Gaming News & Discussions – Now that the microtransactions controversy has died down, Ubisoft Director Scott Phillips said in a recent interview that more people chose to play as Alexios than Kassandra in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and that this came as a surprise to the team. Not exactly sure why. It’s not like Kassandra is the first playable female character in AC, with Aveline de Grandpre being available in the Liberation DLC for Assassin’s Creed 3 and Evie Frye being playable in AC Syndicate. I discuss why making Elise de la Serre be playable in Unity would have made more of an impact than the subsequent female options and the controversial response to the backlash Ubisoft received for not having done so. Funny how much of a 180 the company has made going from it’ll take too much work to we want all future Assassins Creed games to have the option to play as a female. Personally, the one I wanted to play as the most was Shao Jun for Assassin’s Creed China, but we all know how that turned out with Chronicles. Oh well. I have no issue with there being a male or female option moving forward. I think it’s a step in the right direction. Just hope it doesn’t compromise the storytelling, which it absolutely did not in Odyssey imo.
