Morrowind Mod of the Day - Disown the Dead Showcase
201In vanilla Morrowind, ownership properties were tricky things, even in the event of an unfortunate demise, NPCs could retain ownership of their items, from beyond the grave itself, causing crimes for any who dared to care for their mortal possessions - made all the thornier by the fact that Bethesda added ownership properties to items in dungeons for hostile NPCs, causing more than a few legal kerfuffles over the years.
Enter today's Mod of the Day, for today we're showcasing MWSE Disown the Dead by Pherim, a quick and simple little gameplay mod that makes it so that the dead lose their property rights once they're no longer counted amongst the living.
Essentially, when an NPC dies, this mod goes through and automatically and dynamically strips ownership properties from everything that NPC owned - be it items, containers, beds, or even doors - so picking up or using those items (or lockpicking them) is no longer a crime.
A lot of Morrowind's issues with ownership properties have already been fixed by the Morrowind Code Patch, but this is still a handy mod for filling in the remaining gaps!
