Mortal Kombat 2 Sub-Zero Game Play Video @ Retro Gaming World
Mortal Kombat 2 (1993)
Mortal Kombat 2 is the sequel to the Mk1 released by Midway. It featured 12 playable Characters and expanded the Mortal Kombat Universe. While retaining Fatalities from it's predecessor Mk2 added new features like Babalities , Friendship and level hazards like Acid pits , Ceiling spikes. Other notable Changes were the crouch punches , enhanced turnaround kicks, improved low and high kicks and more fluid combos. Recurrent characters gained extra special moves.
MK2 was intended to look better & darker than Mk1 , Mk2 had a richer colour palette and the Digital imagery was captured using Video Capture technology at that time (Sony Broadcast Quality Camera). This is in my opinion was what set this game apart from the rest "the use of Digitized Gracphics".Digitized imagery and sprites immersed the player in a vivid realistic kombat universe.
The game was a huge success and multiple official ports were released :
GameBoy
Master System
Game Gear
Super Nintendo
Sega Genesis
Sega 32x
Playstation
Sega Saturn
Amiga
Dos (PC)
