Unreal Engine 4 + DX 11 is a heavy combo for AMD GPUs. The first 10 hours I played Mortal Shell with RX 570. I set the preset high + medium shadows and set the lock to 40 fps. With a gamepad it was quite comfortable, there were no stutters. However, there is a very demanding place in the game: 4:30. Fortunately, at the higher levels of this location, there are no such performance issues anymore.
I made the optimal preset for excellent quality with minimal loss of performance. Let's go a little through the settings from my optimal preset:
1) Shadows. Low shadows cause some characters to have square shadows. There is no problem if the shadows are medium.
2) Textures. The difference between medium and high textures is 4 fps.
3) Post processing. The difference between low and medium quality is large in both performance and quality. I recommend setting this option to at least medium. There is almost no difference between medium and high.
4) Anti-Aliasing. Anything below high quality will cause weird sun glare even in the dark. Therefore, I do not recommend setting this option below high.

I played Mortal Shell for 15+ hours (I haven't completed it yet). And so I can say with confidence that this is a very good game. Lots of secrets, interesting combat system and atmospheric locations. The small team of 15 people did a good job. I am sure that souls-like fans will be satisfied. If you have questions about the game, I will try to answer them. Thanks for watching 🙂
