Hi I'm Garett and I'm Rough on Stuff. I broke my apple watch, I've had more than 20 phones and I managed to break my Quest 2 Elite Strap into not 2 but 3 pieces... This makes me the perfect person to stress test products.

Kiwi design was nice enough to send me their new Pro Version Controller Cover Grip for the Quest 2 and they are AWESOME!!! They give the feel of Valve Index Knuckles controllers and add on a lot of grabbable space making the Quest 2 controllers easier for guys with big hands like me to use.

My biggest concerns when I got this Quest 2 accessory was how it was going to interfere with VR game play. So I tested it out and here's what I found.

▶PLAY TEST RESULTS

⚔BEAT SABER: I was worried the ring protectors would mess with the Quest 2 tracking but I played Crab Rave on Expert with the covers on and off and saw no difference in tracking. The grips actually made smashing boxes easier cause I found I did not have to grip the controllers so tightly.

🚁CONTRACTORS VR: I played this game to see if the extended grabbing area would interfere with the vr pistol reloading mechanic or two handed holding of smaller weapons like the pistol. While the controllers did bump into each other I found that it didn't interfere with the mechanic at all. I actually liked having more controller grip while dual grabbing the pistol because it allowed me to rest the second hand a little on the extra space. In short the grips cover did not interfere with any reloading mechanics in CONTRACTORS. But if I find a game where it does get in the way I'll be sure to pin a comment about it down below.

🐵STRIDE VR: I played this game with the grips because I wanted to make sure the controllers wouldn't slip out of my hands while using non-traditional locomotion types like what's found in STRIDE and GORILLA TAG. In this case the grips took another huge WIN because the over the back of the hand strap and extra grabbing space made it so much easier to play the game for an extended period of time. My hand felt way better while using the grips cover than it ever does when I play normally.


▶DURABILITY TEST RESULTS

I have a few concerns about the build quality of these grips. I noticed that when the hand strap is tighted it pulls the silicon out really far and if I had to bet where this grip would tear or break first it would be in that area. If I do happen to break the grips I'll be sure to pin a comment about it down below.

Other than that the build feels great. The silicon is easy on the skin and nice for a good grip on the Quest 2 Controller. The included soft covers for the back of hand straps are a really comfortable addition that I highly recommend putting on. And overall nothing about the covers feels cheap or flimsy.
