๐บ๐ธ Motorola Ultra Sleek Analogue Mobile Phone: Part 1 (Quick Look) [TCE #0451]
Thought I'd take a break from trying to figure out the ะะปััะฐ problem [TCE #0450] and have a quick look at my Dad's first mobile phone: a Motorola model S3731A ... or the "Ultra Sleek by Motorola".
I had one of these as well until it was stolen from my car when I was at a friend's party. Anyway, it was pretty much the same as Dad's.
We used the analogue AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone System) in Australia at 850MHz.
For 30 years old, both the case and phone are in pretty good condition. I supplied 7.5VDC to the terminals and it booted ... but is "Loc'd" ... requiring a three-digit code. I tried some combinations but couldn't figure it out - have asked Dad.
As should be expected, everything is covered in shielding inside ... the only visible chip was an Atmel AT28C64 EEPROM. It'd be interesting to see what was stored on it ... phone numbers?
Anyway, now I know what's inside, I might pull it apart some more to see what chips were used.
