🇸🇰 SMEP PP 01: Part 2 (Power Supply) [TCE #0462]
Let's have a look at the internal AC power supply for the PP01. It has a power socket that isn't common in Australia and didn't come with a power cord, however it is compatible with the cable for the Tesla PMD 10 power supply (for the PMD 85 computer series). So first obstacle cleared.
The power supply looked generally clean and okay - no blown capacitors.
Powered it on ... we use 240VAC 50Hz in Australia vs 220V in Europe ... and the small green power LED came on!
I checked the voltages and they all appear to be okay: two ground connections with four connections covering ±12VDC and ±5VDC.
Why -12VDC? Because it has a V.24/RS-232 serial interface built-in.
Overall I like this power supply - it's neatly laid out and just looks "good". I'll leave it alone for now.
Next will be trying to clean the keyboard up.
From Part 1:
SMEP = Systém Malých Elektronických Počítačov (Small Electronic Computer System), and
PP 01 = Personálny Počítač (Personal Computer).
It was developed at the Computing Technology Research Institute (Výskumnom Ústave Výpočtovej Techniky = VÚVT) in Žilina and manufactured at the Computing Technology Plant (Závodoch Výpočtovej Techniky = ZVT) in Banská Bystrica (now in independent Slovakia).
