Motorstorm: Arctic Edge - PS2 (2009)
4From developer BigBig Studios, ported to the PS2 by developer Virtuos. A fast-paced snow-mobile racer that's a ton of fun to play and surprisingly easy. Originally released on the PSP, Arctic Edge is the only title in the Motorstorm franchise on the PS2, and strangely came out after the first two titles release on PS3. Unlike Arctic Thunder there's no combat system, instead "the cars are weapons" or some such message that repeats itself, included at some confused marketer's insistence that a racing game in 2009 needed combat of some sort. It doesn't! Arctic Edge excels with a variety of vehicles and expansive tracks full of shortcuts and exploration. The one thing it's lacking is challenging AI, even playing off camera I've finished every race so far with a distant lead.
