0So the gimmick is that there are 2 different jumps you can perform, the "Jump", with space bar which is just a normal vertical jump, you can keep jumping while strafing to conserve momentum, you know the drill. The second type, the "Leap", with left shift has about one third the vertical height as the normal jump but also performs a horizontal leap in whatever direction the player is moving.
You can jump in mid air after performing a leap, to do a double jump, but cannot do a leap out of a jump. If you are in the air and hit leap while touching a wall, you do a wall kick, which can be chained into another jump and/or another wall kick.
