On June 5, 2002, Mozilla (also known as Mozilla.org) released the Mozilla 1.0 web browser. The basis for Mozilla 1.0 was Gecko, an open source rendering engine which significantly improved the support of web standards.

Mozilla 1.0 included interesting features such as pipelining, tabbed browsing, pop-up blocking, user customizability, bookmark keywords, customized themes, ChatZilla, and more.
