Music Theory - Chords: Triads in the Tonal System (introduction)
[Music Theory Series part 9] Today I give you the initial rundown of what the basic functional chords are in any given key in the tonal system, how they are derived from the degrees of the scale, and I introduce roman numerals that will be used for future analysis. Key words - Triad: A chord made up of stacked thirds. Major/minor/diminished/augmented chord types.
Today's thumbnail features Jorge Morel, an Argentinian born composer, classical guitarist, and jazz musician known for his creative use of jazz harmonies within the classical guitar paradigm. You can hear one of his pieces at the beginning and end of the video, which I played on a whim because I was thinking of my father and how much enjoyed that particular piece.
