Mutant Mudds Deluxe is a 2D platformer where some alien mud monsters have arrived on your planet and you have to fight them off with your water gun and collecting gems. You can also move forward and backward through space on these specific pads in the level. So it's really just a gimmick made for the 3DS. You can hover with your fludd, er jetpack. You can take up to three hits before you die and have to restart the level or at the one checkpoint in the level. If you don't like collecting stuff, then you might not like this game. After you collect certain milestones worth of gems, you unlock optional power-ups. The three power-ups you unlock are an extended shot, extended hover, or rocket jump. You can only have one at a time. Collecting all the things in a level will make the circle above the door fill-in so you know you got everything. There are also secret challenge levels within each level. Beating these will fill-in the other circle above the door. Eventually you unlock a second set of levels ("ghost levels"), which are the same levels as the main game, but the level design is harder and you can't kill the enemies normally. You can kill them with a specific power-up, but it only shows up a few times. But what makes it not as hard is that you can play as Granny through all these levels (after you beat the game) and have all three power-ups of extended shot, hover, and rocket jump while you play them.

What's different about "Deluxe":
The Deluxe version has added the "ghost levels" and more extra characters (which all play exactly like Granny).

What I like:
+ The use of the dimensions and collecting impulse creates some sort-of platforming puzzles.
+ Good challenge that only felt cheap on small occasions.
? Not really something I like, but there is a timer to show you how long you are taking in each level, but the game doesn't save your time or anything.

What I don't like:
- Bland characters and story. You and your grandma are saving the world from these mud aliens. You two are the only people in this world. There is nothing to the ending other than your grandma congratulating you.
- The placement of some of the checkpoints bugs me as they don't feel like they are placed at the middle of the level, so the front or back half will feel much longer than the other when you die and need to redo your platforming.
- Horizontal movement is kinda so slow. You travel a lot faster jumping up than you do walking left and right (nitpick).

Conclusion:
It is a fine game and I did mildly enjoy playing it. The appeal of this game is the platforming challenges. It is not a fast game though. The story and characters are not very detailed. I got everything in about 5 hours. If it looks interesting to you, I would recommend you wait to get this game on sale.
