My art drawing: - UNGLOOM - done in color pencil + [Doom, Quake, action, cave, gold, fps]
My work in progress (wip) now. It's been a very long time since the last post (over 6 months) and this is what I been doing art-wise. Might I add that this drawing is a difficult process. It features dynamic and volumetric lighting, realistic shadows, glows and reflections. All of which were mentally calculated and applied during the drawing's creation. Of course I had to be careful at every step in order not to make mistakes or mess up. The truth is that I did commit a few perspective mistakes and color intensity errors but they were not a big deal to correct as I just drew over them after checking over my work. But all in all, there were no major structural mistakes which made for easier corrections and a great drawing overall I think. And thank goodness for all that *phew. Because it's less work for me to get it right in the first place and really focus on what's important which is beautifying the piece ☺️ So I wish you enjoyed listening to my explanations here and gained some artistic insight into the creation of one of my art pieces 🙂 Good day 🤠
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Much of the technical creation aspects were mentioned in the previous post, so read it if you are interested about some of the visual features of this drawing.
You can also notice some visual differences between the final product here and the previous work in progress posted. Most evidently on the right wall there. And that is because I have color corrected the lightening (darkened it) because originally it was a bit too light there - a fun fact there, unless not noticed.
Story wise, I'm not sure where to begin describing this drawing. I have a few interpretations of my own. First one is I am transversing through an old ice cave with some treasure (check out the window to the left center side) which is being guarded by this egg looking monster lol, while I am eating a lollypop. 2ndly, I could be luring this monster with my lollypop while I am shooting fireballs at it with my fireball launcher. 3rdly, I could be playing a video game and this is what I see on my display screen. 4thly, this could be how a dog's vision of what it can see on the screen as the owner plays this video game (something silly obviously) lol. I drew up this drawing with all these things in mind honestly.
Now for a little more background story of this drawing. The egg looking monster can be a long lost creature which has evolved in this way while living underground. You can also notice that it's guarding a treasure of some sort which can be visible through the window there. I called this creature 'Gloom' because it's a gloomy creature taking residence in that gloomy underground ice cave there illuminated only by a few torches. Therefore we must deal with this creature, take the treasure and escape with it, hence the name of this artwork 'ungloom.' I think it all ties in together with the plot, direction, action and illustration of this scene here.
Lastly it is also partially inspired and pays tribute to the classical 3D computer games of the 90s: Doom, Heretic and Quake which I have greatly enjoyed and appreciated.
Well I think this is enough explanations on my part so make of it what you will and enjoy my hard worked on art piece here. Until next time, happy viewing everyone 🤠 (2019)
