My Country 'Tis of Thee (America) - A Cappella quartet
"My Country, 'Tis of Thee" (also known as "America") is an American patriotic song that served as one of the national anthems of the United States before the adoption of "The Star-Spangled Banner" as the official U.S. national anthem in 1931. It is often performed during the July 4th Independence Day celebrations. The melody is the same as that of the national anthem of the United Kingdom, "God Save the King" (formerly "God Save The Queen"). This original a cappella arrangement for male voices borrows from "America the Beautiful" and the "Star-Spangled Banner" (including the beautiful barbershop tag sung by Acoustix in their Stars and Stripes album). Happy Fourth of July to my American friends!

My country 'tis of thee
Sweet land of liberty
Of thee I sing
Land where my fathers died
Land of the pilgrim's pride
From every mountainside
Let freedom ring
Let music swell the breeze
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song
Let mortal tongues awake
Let all that breathe partake
Let rocks their silence break
The sound prolong (America)
