My Fav Obscure Fighting Game! Power Instinct V on the Taito Type X2! The Neo Geo Matrimelee Sequel
225I love an arcade fighting game and I love the Neo Geo AES and Neo Geo MVS (whether played on MiSTer FPGA or on my Neo Geo AES collection) but my favorite fighting game franchise has always been Power Instinct and I have always loved Matrimelee. More so than Street Fighter or King of Fighters...so Power Instinct V on the Taito Type X2 becomes my favorite modern 2D fighting game!

On this episode we are looking back at Power Instinct V, the final (as of now) entry in the Power Instinct arcade fighting game franchise and the sequel to Matrimelee on the Neo Geo! It's a legit amazing 2D fighting game that runs on the Taito Type X / Type X2 arcade board...which I just happen to have! It's def a really weird and esoteric fighting game and won't be in the same conversation with Street Fighter or King of Fighters...but it should be!
It was developed by Atlus and Noise Factory and is known as Goketsuji Ichizoku Matsuri Senzo Kuyou in Japanese (豪血寺一族 先祖供養)
Plus its just PC Gaming in reality! This makes me a PC Gamer...and if you want to play you dont need an original arcade board. You can use Teknoparrot. Emulation and emulators for the win! But it's a piece of video game history and preservation and a game that should have been released on the PS3 / Xbox 360 IMO!
