I just got an Ultimaker 2 3D printer. I'm a f'nig n00b at 3D printing but I'll get better. 3D printing will help to enhance my art, science and technology pursuits, hai ganbaru!

I bought it for it's medium size footprint, ease of use, low noise, print consistency and reliability. I could have built one like many of my friends but I don't have time to fiddle around; Besides I always take apart my tech and put it back together. Yeah, it's like that :)

In this video I show an example of a robot file that came on the SD card with the Ultimaker 2 3D printer. This is the first and last time that you'll see me 3D print something that I didn't make myself.

I didn't buy this to look cool. I'm going to work with meaningful and useful things. Them being 3D printed is irrelevant; I got this to accelerate and advance my abilities. When I get through, trust me you won't be able to tell how it was made.

I learned from this introduction that I shall print objects that lend themselves to this type of 3D printer. Fused deposition modeling (FDM) printers such as the Ultimaker 2 do have some limitations. Why not take advantage of it's strengths?

Basically, I'm not going to swim upstream but I will use it to the highest degree.
