My first Sony Trinitron FAIL (KV-27S20)
At least the tube survived. I wanted this one instead of her flat screen Trinitron, and it paid the price...
KV-27S20 manufactured August 1996, 28 years old exactly. The morning of 8/20 i went to discharge the tube and there was no charge on it at all, i assume it hasn't been turned on in a decade. If there any other updates i will make a comment and pin it like i usually do, the owner said she'd let me know if she finds the remote.
Background This woman and her brother, their parents died two weeks apart, the 13" JVC and flat screen Trinitron and the 27" RCA she never mentioned) were at the first house we went to (her mom's house) and this Trinitron was at the dad's house) I guess i felt sorry for them and couldn't say no to the TV, i'm an idiot. As for the plastics, i didn't see any markings confirming it wasn't Sony who made the plastics, the plastic the 1995 Sharp i bought that was falling apart was DOW chemical plastic. There must have been some experimentation going on, and it failed.
