My first UEVR injection - Stray in VR - promising but I need to learn more.
New - MUCH BETTER - gameplay video posted here: • Updated! Stray in VR with UEVR - Fix...
Actual gameplay starts at 2:06 - up to that point it's just me being confused lol
If you haven't heard of #uevr , it's developer #praydog 's amazing piece of software that can turn almost any game built with #unrealengine 4 and higher into a real #vr experience. In this case, I tried the game Stray because it apparently works "straight out of the box" as it were.
PLEASE NOTE: The right side of the entire video flashes a bit, not sure why. i will figure out why and fix it if i can. ALSO - i did nothing except "inject" UEVR in the game and that is all.
it *does*, but my right eye was bombarded with flashing lights at certain points ( you'll see a flashing strip down the right size of the video, i only really saw it in the outside sections), the black bars in cut scenes are kind of annoying, and controlling with the oculus controllers is weird.
These are all things I can likely figure out once i do a bit more reading.
Also, i was talking, but my voice was so quiet you only hear me occasionally and not very well - again, that's something I can fix.
Disclaimer - the actual game, in the Quest 3S headset does not look quite as good as the video you see, but honestly, it's about 90% of the quality. I was loving it. Was it 4K HDR10 level graphics? No. Was it's PS1 level graphics? Also No. Let's say it looks like late cycle PS3 - really nice, but not perfect. But even as janky as everything was, it was still an amazing experience.
I am definitely trying every game I have to see how they look - this is such an amazing thing.
In case you're wondering how to set it up, like i was, and was wondering WHY it wouldn't work, this is the video i followed, and it's by (i think) people involved with making the mod.
• UEVR - Getting Started Basics
there's a lot more to learn about it, but the fact that you can technically get your games to run in VR (specific games, UE4 and higher, and very often only with some tweaking), is amazing.
I will definitely be posting more - and better UEVR content.
thanks for watching - please be kind, this was my first time trying to get UEVR to work lol
