Here are the games I played for the week of 10-18-2009

It was another slow week for me when it comes to playing games. Only played three main ones this week, and even then, I didn't play that far into them.

The Games:

Chrono Cross (PS1)-

This is one that I've started a number of times, but always got sidetracked. I've heard nothing but good things about it, but never got around to playing more than an hour or two in. Even Gamespot who hates games gave this game a perfect 10 (not that I have any respect for the journalistic integrity of Gamespot to begin with, but this was before they were complete crap, just mostly crappy).

I played a few hours into this one, only to discover that I missed recruiting one of the characters, so I'm going to have to go back and start all over.

I hate when RPGs don't give you another chance to collect someone, or something.

Call me an RPG sissy, but I may decide to play this one using my strategy guide. I don't know where I got the strategy guide from, but I have the Official Brady Games strategy guide for the game. Normally I don't use the guides unless I'm stuck, or am just double checking to see if I missed anything (like when I found out that I had already screwed up a couple of hour into the game).

Half-Life (PS2)-

I have the PC version, and all of it's add-ons, but I still wanted to buy the PS2 port of Half-Life. For it's time it was the most impressive version of the original Half-Life in the graphics department. The PC version later got a face lift in the HD pack, but for a short while, the PS2 port was the best looking version of the original Half-Life out there.

I don;t care about graphics, but luckily, this port keeps all the same gameplay in-tact, and even if you don't like co9ntrolling it with the controller, and are a keyboard and mouse kind of guy, this port also supports the use of a USB Keyboard and mouse for play on the PS2.

The only thing this port is truly missing is online play, but seeing as it predates the PS2's online network, it's not as though online would have been easy to implement. Of course, THPS3 had online play long before the PS2's online network via I believe a USB modem, but it probably would have been too much of a hassle for Gearbox to include some sort of online play.

I guess I'll have to be satisfied with the great port of the SP, and the coop Decay mode. I have the PC port if I want online.

The Warriors (Xbox)-

Like Half-Life, I just got this game this week. I'm not too terribly far into it, but so far I like what I've played of it. It's like a squad based beat 'em up, and I'm a huge fan of beat 'em ups (every game is repetitive, Beat 'em ups are just more blatant about it, but I love games that keep it simple).

If you're a fan of the cult classic movie, or beat 'em ups, you should give The Warriors a look. It's also on the PS2.
