My Little Pony is an entertainment franchise developed by Hasbro which is marketed primarily to girls. It started as a line of plastic pony toys developed by Bonnie Zacherle, Charles Muenchinger and Steve D'Aguanno which have been produced since 1983. The ponies feature colorful bodies, manes and a unique symbol on one or both sides of their flanks. These are referred to in the two most recent generations as "cutie marks." My Little Pony was revamped at least four times with new and more modern looks to appeal to a new market.The fourth and current incarnation of My Little Pony began in 2010 and is generally referred to Generation Four (G4) by collectors. It features nine characters tied into the TV show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which airs on The Hub: Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rarity, Spike the Dragon, Princess Celestia, and Princess Luna. Set in Equestria, the show centers around the unicorn pony Twilight Sparkle as she learns lessons about friendship. Littlest Pet Shop is a toy franchise owned by Hasbro. The original toy series was produced by Kenner in the early 1990s. An animated television series was made in 1994 by Sunbow Productions and Jean Chalopin Creativite et Developpement, based on the franchise.

A new version of Littlest Pet Shop was introduced in 2005 by Hasbro, with revisions such as larger eyes. There are currently over 3,000 different pets that have been created under this revision.In 2012, a new style of Littlest Pet Shop was created to coincide with the new TV series. The pets' eyes were bigger, rounder, and with shinier irises with star-shaped reflections on their eyes. The pets themselves came in brighter colors, and with more distinguished, yet exotic features, such as the pets having a sparkling glitter-like covering on their bodies or with syrup or cream-like features covering their bodies or heads with sprinkles. Later in 2012, toys were produced without these changes, with the exception of the eye shape. The pets have exceeded over the number of 3,000 pets so far. In December 2013, due to popular demand, an updated style of pets with the same features as the 2005-2012 version pets, such as the bobbling heads, were released. (Wikipedia)
