Such a disappointment that the Playstation 3 console that I picked up less than 24 hours will not turn on. I'm glad that this happened now than later. Time to return this one back to store and see if I can find a better solution.

I did some research and discovered that this is a common fault if you have the original PS3 console. Everyone who has the same problem, know that there is a way to fix the problem, but it is not permanent.
