My Response to @cliffgoat and Thoughts on H2M

Recently, the H2M Mod was shut down by Activision due to several factors including I.P, and some speculation that it was because of the fact that the Black Ops 6 game is on the way and there could be some impacts to sales. For today, I will be arguing some points made by my bud @cliffgoat from his video talking about how H2M was shut down and why I believe the H2M mod should have been allowed. Here are my points:
1) H2M was a mod to bring us back to old school COD
- I mention this alot in this video. The mod was to bring back maps of the past and let us play the original ones. All the old school maps was to be there.
2) Mods allow the game to have a longer lifespan
- This goes for most mods and most games. Games that allow for User Generated Content (UGC) have more of a lifespan because they allow for mods to be celebrated. With COD though, they dont. If they did, I have a feeling that COD Modern Warfare Remastered would have been more enjoyable.
3) The Barrier of Entry and Mods dont make money
The Barrier of Entry to a game in today's market is at least $70 and that is not including microtransactions. For mods, people have to buy a base game to get into the possibility of getting the mod. In addition, the mod will not earn money since the publisher of the main game gets the money and not the mod developer
4) COD has been in bad reputation ever since
- In Cliffgoats video, he mentions about how COD does not allow mods because of the fact that mods may drive their reputation down, however, in the bigger picture, Activision's REP has been bad ever since the modern games like MWII (2019) where they started doing Skill Based Match Making (SBMM) or even Engagement Optimized Match Making (EOMM) , so the inclusion of the H2M mod would have actually helped their reputation a little bit, but with their practices, its only small.
5) His point on how mods impact the sales of their projects
- He is correct on the fact that H2M would have impacted sales, however, COD Modern Warfare Remastered (2017) is an old title and the mod would have increased the sales more . In terms of the future projects like COD Black Ops 6, sales with the implementation of mods would have been increased as fans would start adding cool things
6) His point about mods and cheating
- While I do agree that some mods are bad in a way where it introduced cheating, there are 97% of mods that influence content, story elements, and even new things to the table. The mods on cheating are maybe less than 5% of them . And even so, they can import some private servers to have fun with them
