Visual Description: A woman sits on the floor in front of a bookshelf. She has straight brown hair worn down, and held away from her face with two red butterfly hair clips. She's dressed in a black cotton dress, and wears purple-rimmed eyeglasses with a cat's eye shape that help her to see. There's a wooden bookshelf filled with a variety of books in the background.

Description: I watched "The Conjuring" from 2013 with my significant other, and I wanted to share my thoughts on the movie. Honestly it was scary!!! I didn't have any "screaming at the top of my lungs" moments, but I do play Phasmophobia fairly often so I feel like I'm better able to tolerate horror than I used to be.

I liked the pacing of the movie. It felt like the suspense was built upon slowly over time; I loved the gradualness of the buildup.

There were some parts of the plot that I felt were loose ends; it wasn't a dealbreaker, but it felt like there were some characters who were left vague (possibly to make the movie more open to sequels) that I would've appreciated more satisfactory endings for. One character I would've liked to know more about what happened to was the little ghost boy. Was he able to move on?

I think that the set design was excellently done. Nothing screamed "modern" to me, and I felt immersed/like the movie could've genuinely taken place in the 1970s (granted, I wasn't alive back then, but it's the vibes that count). I loved how unlived in the house felt, with details like dust on the windows impacting the sort of lighting that came through them. I liked the costume design, and have no objections to any of the acting.

Overall I highly enjoyed this movie, and would recommend it to anyone who likes horror movies or is looking for a spooky time!
