Double Check your Automatic Dubbing Setting
Visual Description: The majority of the screen is taken up by the YouTube Studio page. At first a screenshot of a banner about auto-dubbing being turned on is displayed. Next, window capture footage demonstrating how to double check and make sure the setting is disabled if you've already disabled it, or turn it off if it's enabled, is displayed. There is webcam footage of a woman in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. She has brown hair worn in a Dutch braid over her shoulder, and she wears purple-rimmed eyeglasses and a green sweater. A green-coloured screen is behind her, and she's surrounded by a wooden picture frame. There's a photograph of a field of dandelions (taken by the woman herself) used as an overall background layer, which fills in empty space at the top and bottom of the video.
Description: I got a very alarming banner on my YouTube Studio page today (March 28th, 2025). It stated "Auto dubbing is now enabled on your channel! The audio on new videos will be automatically translated into other languages, to make your content more accessible. You can always adjust your settings." I've previously turned that setting off, so I was shocked to say the least. I went ahead and double checked, and automatic dubbing is still unchecked/off for me, thankfully. I want to encourage my viewers to double-check and make sure that automatic dubbing is still off for them (if they've previously disabled it) as well, or to turn it off if they've never disabled it. It's very disheartening to me that it's an opt-out, rather than an opt-in, "feature".
