Contra distributed as Gryzor in Europe and Oceania, is a 1987 science fiction/guerrilla-themed run-and-gun action video game developed and published by Konami originally released as a coin-operated arcade game on February 20, 1987. A home version was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, along with ports for various computer formats, including the MSX2. The home versions were localized in the PAL region as Gryzor on the various computer formats, and as Probotector on the NES, released later. Several Contra sequels were produced following the original game.

Sunsoft's first NES Batman game, based on the 1989 film. The Dark Knight is on the streets of Gotham City fighting furiously with the Joker's henchmen. The hero can hit enemies with his fists, as well as use weapons with limited ammunition - boomerangs, a pistol, powerful flying discs. Batman also knows how to climb higher, starting from the walls. The mechanics and difficulty of the game are close to Ninja Gaiden, and the atmosphere in it is also great. The gloomy streets of Gotham, appearing to us in an eight-bit style, like in a movie, frighten and fascinate at the same time. A worthy embodiment of the story of the Dark Knight on the NES.

The Punisher is a 1990 video game developed by Beam Software and released by LJN, which stars the Marvel Comics anti-hero, the Punisher. It is one of the few NES rail shooters. Also in 1990, an unrelated The Punisher for Amiga and MS-DOS was released by MicroProse.
The Punisher's origin has been slightly altered to a former detective, from the original comic books as a US Marine who served in the Vietnam War.
